Material grades

BUTTING – Material practice

Since the development of stainless steel, BUTTING has been dealing with its processing. During the past decades we have increasingly focussed on the production of pipes and components in special grades.

In 1979 the first worldwide delivery of bigger quantities of pipes in grade 1.4462 (UNS S31803) for the NAM-project ”IJsselmonde” was carried out, which is a proof of our extensive experience. For more than 20 years we have been producing pipes in nickel alloys, like Hastelloy C4 for the national chemical industry. In 2002 BUTTING set a new standard with the delivery of riser pipes in API 5L X 65, clad with Alloy 825, which were needed for deepsea explora- tions in depths up to 1 000 meters.

The production programme of BUTTING offers an extensive range of high-perfor- mance materials for specific and corrosive applications in various branches. The individual demands of our customers require innovative solutions from time to time and our metallurgists, welding engineers and production staff are always faced with new challenges. Mastering the challenges successfully helps strengthen our competence in materials technology all the time.   We are at your disposal with our know-how regarding materials selection, corrosion, heat treatment, as well as surface treatment.
